Franciscan Outreach

Shelter, Healthy Meals, And Compassionate Care For People Who Are Confronting Homelessness In Chicago

The mission of Franciscan Outreach is to affirm the dignity of individuals who are marginalized and homeless in order to empower them to gain the stability to transition into permanent housing. Every day, we offer healthy meals to those who are hungry, a warm bed for those who need shelter, vital case management for those who need guidance, and access to critical resources for those who need specialized services such as health care, mental health counseling, and substance use disorder treatment. Grounded in the Franciscan values of service and gratitude, Franciscan Outreach implements its programs without regard to religious affiliation and does not conduct nor require participation in religious services. Since its founding by Friar Phillip Marquard as a halfway house for paroled ex-offenders who were unable to leave prison because they had nowhere to go, Franciscan Outreach has expanded its scope of services and remains dedicated to serving Chicago’s most vulnerable residents.
