The mission of 13 Hands Equine Rescue is to rescue horses and heal humans. We rescue abandoned, neglected, abused, and slaughter-bound horses in order to rehabilitate the horses and place them in new loving homes. We also provide equine assistance therapy to military veterans who are struggling with mental illness like post-traumatic stress disorder. Based on the powerful effect of mutual healing through the human-horse relationship, horses regain their good health and humans are empowered to bring about positive changes in their lives.
