Ability Center

Providing Daily Opportunities For People With Disabilities To Be Fit, Active, Healthy, And To Play

The mission of The Ability Center (TAC) is to provide people impacted by disabilities with a daily opportunity to be fit, active, healthy, and to play. Through our RampUp program, we design, build, and implement inclusive recreational opportunities at local parks, fitness centers, etc. Along with our community partners, our Open Gym program provides an opportunity for people of all abilities to play together in an inclusive, non-competitive environment with family, friends, and colleagues. Our school-based Adaptive Scholastic Athletic Program (ASAP) hosts disability awareness assemblies and inclusive physical education classes. Founded by childhood bone cancer survivor Damian Buchman—whose cancer left him with an ambulatory disability and twenty-three knee replacements and revisions—TAC is built on his belief of inclusion and access for everybody and every body.
