College Scholarships And Mentorship For Vulnerable Youth In Romania And Moldova
Founded in 2002, the Blue Heron Foundation has been a beacon of hope for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable youth in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. These young individuals, despite their academic potential, have lacked the financial means and emotional support to turn their dreams of a college education into reality. Blue Heron has come to their aid by paying their tuition, covering fees for courses such as driving lessons and English as a second language, and pairing these students with mentors who serve as guides and sources of encouragement during their college years. Blue Heron has witnessed over 450 students graduate, including doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, social workers, attorneys, artists, and more. Blue Heron raises funds through annual events on the West and East Coasts of the United States, receiving support from both Americans and Romanian-Americans. All expenses are covered by the founders to ensure that all money raised goes exclusively to support the students. The mentors are proficient in Romanian and reside in Romania, the United States, and other European countries.
