Bedside Robotics Programs For Children’s Hospitals
Buildup STEAM partners with children’s hospitals to provide creative and educational STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) experiences at the bedside of young patients and their families in the hospital. Each child has the opportunity to build and program a LEGO robot and watch their creation come to life in front of their eyes. During our interventions, we shift the focus away from the stress of the hospital setting and onto an engaging and dynamic project. Founded by two brothers who sought to bring the joy and hands-on learning of STEAM education to children at one Michigan hospital, the program has now expanded to other locations and has served more than 1300 young patients.
