Comer Education Campus
Youth Development And Community Revitalization
Anchored by the state-of-the-art Gary Comer Youth Center, the Comer Education Campus serves young people from the Greater Grand Crossing community and the surrounding neighborhoods on Chicago’s South Side. Our mission is to ensure our youth graduate from high school prepared for college and careers. Together with community partners, we provide a safe and supportive environment for young people ages 8-24 during school hours, after school, and on weekends. We serve nearly 2,000 youth from 72 area schools annually through out-of-school-time enrichment, academic enhancement, arts exploration, recreational activities, and college and career preparation programs. Gary Comer laid the foundation for the Comer Education Campus after visiting his grammar school in 1998, seeing the condition of the school and its surrounding neighborhoods, and dedicating himself to address the challenges of this traditionally underserved area of Chicago.
