Supporting Young Girls Who Have Lost Their Mothers
The mission of empowerHER is to empower, support, and connect girls of all ages who have experienced the early loss of their mothers. We provide an integrated series of Events For Girls and a 1:1 Mentor Match Program. Our events (Mother’s Day Retreat, Annual Beach Bash, Writing Workshops, Yoga Classes, etc.) offer a fun time and place to learn, laugh and celebrate life. Our mentor program instills hope and confidence, provides a shared community of sisterhood, and reduces feelings of isolation for the girls as they deal with their grief. Founded by a woman who at 9 years old lost her 37-year-old mother to breast cancer, empowerHER now serves more than 140 girls in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
