Illinois Action For Children
Professional Development, Financial Assistance, And Governmental Advocacy To Improve Child Care For Working Families
Illinois Action For Children (IAFC) is a catalyst for organizing, developing, and supporting strong families and powerful communities where children matter most, so that all children and their families, particularly those experiencing poverty, have access to early childhood care and education. Through professional development training programs, funding opportunities, family and community engagement, and consultation services, IAFC instructs and assists child care providers to offer quality, safe, and affordable care. IAFC also advocates for governmental policies and regulations that benefit children and build the strong families and communities they need. Appalled by the lack of quality child care available in the 1960s, Sylvia Cotton led a group of concerned citizens to found the organization on behalf of working families. Today, IAFC serves more than 75,000 children and 150,000 families every year across Illinois.
