Providing At-Risk, Low-Income Youth With Positive Alternatives To Gangs, Drugs, Truancy, Violence, And The Juvenile Justice System
Founded by CNN Hero Diane Latiker, Kids Off The Block (“KOB”) provides a positive place for “at risk” kids to come “off the block” for programs and events conducted in a safe and caring environment. Latiker began KOB by opening up her home to 10 kids in the community to steer them away from the daily negative influences that they experienced. 15 years later, KOB has serviced more than 3,000 kids through health workshops, cultural events, educational tutoring, and celebrations in their honor for achievements and participation.
