Preventing Youth Suicide Through Mental Health Awareness And Suicide Education Programs
KnowResolve is dedicated to promoting mental health and preventing youth suicides through outreach, advocacy, and education. Our goal is to break down the silence, shame, and stigma surrounding mental health disorders and to provide youth and adults with tools needed to prevent suicide. Through our suicide prevention programs, speeches, and activities at schools and The SHED (our after-school teen center), we connect students with information, resources, and skills that promote resilience, self-empowerment, and help-seeking behavior. KnowResolve has reached more than 130,000 teens, parents, and staff at hundreds of schools, colleges, churches, businesses, and community events across the country. The nonprofit was founded by Dennis Legghio, who as a teenager blamed himself for his father’s suicide and then struggled with his own depression and thoughts of suicide.
