Improve Patient Access To Cancer Clinical Trials
At Lazarex Cancer Foundation, through our Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB program, we create cancer health equity by increasing access to quality care and clinical trials to improve cancer health outcomes for all communities. We strive to fully understand the gaps in care that stop people from accessing health resources and then addressing those unique barriers. The Lazarex Cancer Wellness HUB functions as an actual within the community, creating a bridge between community members and the cancer resources and services they may need, using place-based, community-led, and culturally appropriate models of engagement to: Provide a safe place to help residents address, identify, and connect about health concerns and explore prevention, treatment, clinical trials, and more; (2) Offer education and navigation services for cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and recovery; (3) Help remove financial barriers, like transportation and parking, to increase access to clinical trials and optimal care; and (4) Specially train Neighborhood Health Ambassadors and Cancer Care Companions who meet people where they are, such as the grocery store, community centers, produce packing warehouses, nail and hair salons, and more, so that community members feel welcome, valued, and respected.
