Providing Care Packages To People Going Through Chemotherapy
Lemons of Love (“LOL”) provides support and community to those affected by cancer through comforting care packages and Cancer Resource Center programs. Hand-stitched tote bags are filled with special items – Lemon Drops (to get rid of the awful chemo taste), Lemon Lotion (for dry chemo skin), Organic Ginger Tea (for upset stomachs), among other things – and delivered to chemotherapy patients. In addition, the organization’s Lemons of Love Cancer Resource Center offers a beauty spa for patients to be pampered for a day or to undergo a chemo head shaving, a project room where care packages are filled, and a space for cancer-support meetings. A stage III colon cancer survivor, Jill Swanson Peltier founded LOL to bring smiles and hope to all cancer fighters. LOL is based on a well-known expression but with a twist: “When life gives you lemons, laugh out loud (LOL)”!
