Make Food Not Waste
Reducing Food Waste Through Upcycling, Education, And Advocacy
Make Food Not Waste is a Detroit-based environmental nonprofit working to address climate change by keeping food out of landfills. The group operates two Upcycling Kitchens where teams of professional chefs transform surplus food into high-quality meals for Detroiters facing food insecurity, provide training for food service operations to reduce food waste, and educate home cooks on how to make their food go further. As a leader in reaching Michigan’s goal of cutting food waste in half by 2030, Make Food Not Waste also supports local governments, counties, and state departments in planning and infrastructure development.
