National Runaway Safeline
24/7 Crisis Services For Runaway And Homeless Youth
The National Runaway Safeline (NRS) is a national nonprofit organization committed to ensuring that runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth are safe and off the streets. Founded as Metrohelp in 1971, NRS serves as the crisis line for youth and families providing critical crisis intervention 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each year, NRS makes approximately 100,000 connections to help and hope through hotline (1-800-RUNAWAY), online (1800RUNAWAY.org), and prevention services. Our services include connecting youth and families with resources such as counseling, shelter services, alcohol/drug treatment, child protective services, and more; facilitating conference calls when young people request assistance contacting their family or an agency that can help; and helping to reunite runaway youth with their families or an alternate living arrangement through a free bus ticket home, via our Home Free program.
