The Nennie Foundation helps cancer patients get access to the care they need in order to thrive. The nonprofit provides grants to cover the “hidden costs” of diagnosis and treatment that pose financial challenges to cancer patients. These costs include transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, medication, supplies, nursing care, and more. During her 10-year battle with cancer, Jennifer “Nennie” Myers had the loving support of her husband – who served as her primary caregiver – and a community of friends and family who provided support. Before passing away, Nennie recognized that she was fortunate in her cancer experience to have excellent access to healthcare. The Nennie Foundation was founded to carry on her legacy and to help those who are not as fortunate by providing financial support to cancer patients who are struggling to gain access to healthcare.
