Business Support Organization Promoting Local Ownership And An Economy That Puts People First
The mission of People First Economy (PFE) is to lead the development of an economy grounded in local ownership that meets the basic needs of people, builds local wealth and social capital, functions in harmony with our ecosystem, and encourages joyful community. We connect consumers to local businesses, help business owners build sustainable companies, and host community-wide initiatives that bring people together to celebrate local ownership. Our Local First program is a nonprofit-and-business membership organization that focuses on the positive social and environmental impacts of local ownership. Our Good For Michigan program recognizes companies across Michigan that are making a positive impact on their employees, their community, and the environment, while offering resources and best practices for sustainable and social good. Our Impact Project helps business leaders learn about local and state policy proposals, evaluate how those proposals could impact their companies, and speak up in favor of policies that are good for business and a people first economy. PFE reaches approximately one thousand businesses across Michigan and believes that successful, vibrant communities thrive when they put people first.
