Almost losing her leg to Dermatillomania because of her compulsive skin picking, Lauren McKeaney turned her decades of anguish into answers and created the Picking Me Foundation. The Skin Picking Disorder is a body-focused repetitive behavior where a person picks, scratches or digs into their skin in an attempt to improve perceived imperfections, but which often results in tissue damage, discoloration, infection, or scarring. The Picking Me Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about Dermatillomania and inspiring acceptance about this mental illness for sufferers, supporters, and medical and educational professionals.
