Tutoring Chicago
Delivering The Power Of Education To Students Through One-To-One Tutoring
Tutoring Chicago delivers the power of education to children facing economic barriers through one-to-one tutoring and high-quality, academic, developmental programming. With the help of more than 1,000 trained and educated adult volunteers and a program staff comprised of former teachers, each student is matched with their own tutor and receives weekly individualized instruction during the school year. Tutoring Chicago offers three distinct, customized, and one-to-one programs to students in first to eighth grade: SMART (Social Emotional Learning, Mathematics, Accountability, Reading, and Technology), LIT (Literacy Intensive Tutoring), and Middle School Tutoring. Founded by a group of Montgomery Ward employees in 1965 as the Cabrini Green Tutoring Program, Tutoring Chicago helps thousands of students in elementary and middle school to grow academically and develop personally.
